Which resources implemented SSO?

Answer

Note: We've worked with the vendors listed below to implement SSO and tested access for all relevant patron groups. However, some vendors have implemented SSO without our input, and their links may not function.

Definition & Explanation

Single Sign On (SSO): A single sign-on service allows users to use one login credential to access multiple resources, sites, and applications.

The different platforms provide access to their products and services after they recognize your affiliation with Duke University when you use your institutional credentials.

The platforms display their SSO routes differently. Some examples of what action a patron might take depending on the platform:

  • typing only their Duke email into the login bar, which recognizes their affiliation with Duke
  • selecting "Find Your Institution," and typing "Duke University" into a search box
  • clicking "Sign in via Your Institution" and selecting "Duke University" from a drop-down list
  • selecting "Access via Your Institution" and selecting "USA (InCommon) Federation" from a drop-down list before selecting "Duke University" from a second drop-down list

Note: A patron is not logging into the platform. Either method (shown below) directs the patron to the Duke University login portal unless they have an active session that is still open.
