What are Sponsored Accounts?

Answer

Sponsored Accounts

A sponsored account is a guest account requested by Duke faculty or staff for academic colleagues, vendors, or authorized parties who need a Duke NetID to access specific services.

What are the requirements for requesting a sponsored account?

Before requesting library resource access, a faculty or staff member must request an account through OIT's Sponsored Account Tool.

What type of library access does it provide, and what are its limitations?

The library services offered differ depending on the patron type and the specific circumstances for requesting access. For more information (including the Sponsor Forms), please review the linked website, Sponsoring for Library Access.

Important Note: Sponsored accounts tend to have a default lifespan of one year (which can be shortened). Sponsors are responsible for renewing access if necessary.
